Turf quality ratings are calculated by gathering data from a mower-mounted sensor or stand-alone system. Two sensors are currently available: Crop Circle (Holland Scientific) or GreenSeeker (NTech Industries). Data from the sensor is logged continuously along with geographic coordinates using a Global Positioning System (GPS). TurfScout® provides map products including: Scout Maps, Standard Maps and Specific Maps. Scout maps can be used as guides to isolate stressed areas, Standard Maps are presented with a fixed legend for following changes over time, and Specific Maps enhance differences in turf quality and pinpoint varying degrees of stress. Together these products can be used to identify stress, document recovery and response to treatment, optimize management strategies, and isolate recurring "Hot Spots".
- Data Interpolation
We create an interpolated map from full-resolution sensor data to provide a more general and continuous representation of turf quality values. The final product is an excellent tool for viewing "Big picture" trends in turf quality.
- Trend Analysis Reports
We provide daily statistical outputs, for each green or fairway, identifying trends in turf response over time (Quality Ratings) and calculate indices that measure turf quality. Daily summary statistics are developed for each green and are available through our website and displayed in an easy to understand and useful format.
- Interactive Web Mapping
An exciting feature of our service is an interactive web mapping tool. With the web mapping tool users can upload data, view quality maps, perform basic GIS analyses with ease (Zoom, Pan, Draw, Overlay, Measure), and most importantly produce softcopy and hardcopy maps.
